Requirements to Travel

Want to compete with MUNatUCI’s Travel Team? It’s very simple. The requirements are listed below:

  1. Any participant must be a currently enrolled UCI student for the quarter of the intended conference.
  2. Any participant must apply and successfully be admitted onto the team following a fair audition process and tryout, with the process changing depending on the expected difficulty of the conference.
  3. Any participant must attend the majority of general meetings and all mandated trainings leading up to conference weekend, with the exception of a special case of extenuating circumstances.
  4. Agree to official team expectations and regulations, sign our liability waiver, and may be asked from time to time to aid our Conference staff in running our at-home hosted conferences, should that be needed.

Frequently Asked Questions |

1). Does the Travel Team charge dues?

  • No, in the interest of fairness, give back to our Anteater community, and make it accessible to any and every willing participant, our Travel Team does not charge dues. For specific conferences that we attend during the academic year, there is an attendance fee, which is typically broken down into conference registration fees and room and board fees. However, the Travel Team provides financial aid to all our admitted participants and subsidizes this cost up to 80% for the duration of the conferences we attend.

2). How often are Travel Team meetings?

  • The Travel Team meets once a week; given UC Irvine’s campus room reservation system and RCO space-use policies, the place and time of meetings are subject to change quarterly. To find out where meetings will be held during the quarter, just check our Instagram page!

3). I’m a beginner in MUN and haven’t done it before. Can I travel if I am new to MUN?

  • Of course! Our Travel Team and Conference Staff do our best to accommodate and encourage anyone who has never done MUN before to give it a shot. All we ask is that you try your best, follow our procedures, and have fun!

4), I have a question not listed here, where should I go?

  • For any and all questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to email us at ucimuntravel@gmail.com, or any of our board members. You can also DM our Instagram page and are more than welcome to come to our meetings!
